Mission

We connect and empower a neuro-diverse community of artists.

Approach

We pair adult artists with disabilities with professional artist-mentors, who accompany them in creating, exhibiting and selling unique bodies of work. In addition to providing transformative one-on-one mentorship, we create ambitious, risky, creative projects with a big community of accomplices in Richmond, including daring experiments in outdoor weaving, a giant mobile shadow puppet theater, and launching Richmond’s Annual Validation Day Parade.

Timeline

Milk River Arts began in 2015 through a week-long residency at 1708 Gallery’s 10x10 program.

In 2016 Milk River Arts grew and took form through projects and partnerships at the VMFA, The Visual Arts Center of Richmond, Glave Kocen Gallery and Studio Two Three.

In 2017 Milk River Arts moved into a storefront studio/gallery space in Church Hill.

In 2019 we moved our studio space to Scott’s Addition, and became a part of the vibrant artists community at Studio Two Three.
